Shanghai is a great place to start because it's such an international city. There are flights daily from US to Shanghai and it's the starting point for many travelers going into China. It's a great city with so much to see and do. There's Nanjing Road, a ten-maile long shopping haven of department stores. There's Yuyan garden, a little bit more traditional shopping experience. Here you can find antiques and unique Chinese goods. One of the most interesting is a vendor that paints Chinese scenes, like dragons and tigers, on empty goose eggs (very cool!). Also in Shanghai is the Bund, a stretch of road right next to the river lined with Eruopean-style architecture. There, across the river, you'll see the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, the modern city right across from the old. A five minute subway ride can take you to Pudong where you can go up in the tower to observatories that gives you a panaramic view of all of Shanghai. Shanghai is very much like New York-very young, modern and fast pace.

Beijing, on the otherhand is like Washington D.C. It's very historical and cultural. Must-see sites include the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, Summer Palace and The Temple of Heaven. It's best to go on a guided tour of all these places because finding them may be difficult and travel expenses plus admission tickets may be expensive. Beijing is the place to go to learn about the history of China. A great place to witness that history is Tian'anmen Square. As the world's largest open square, it's home to Chairman Mao's mausoleum, where you can see his embalmed body.

Xian is also another great historical city. It's the only city in China to still have a wall around it. It's also where you can see the terra cotta warriors. This is another place that a guided tour would be better because the site is located one hour outside of the city and it's a huge place with different excavation sights.

i'm sorry, yet there isn't any longer only one position you should ascertain. in case you'll make the vacation to China, you should ascertain: the finished Wall Tian’anmen sq. The Forbidden city the way of the Spirit The Ming Tombs Xi'an and the Terra Cotta Warriors The Yangtze River such as the three Gorges Dam A Buddhist Monastery The old city in Shanghai The list is amazingly plenty longer that this, yet, you get the perception. China is a vast united states of america, it has quite some issues to ascertain.

For starters, Hongkong, Macau, Beijing, Chengde, Chengdu, Chongqing, Dali, Dalian, Dunhuang, Emeishan, Guangzhou, Guilin, Hangzhou, Harbin, Huangshan, Jinan, Jiuzhaigou, Kaifeng, Lhasa, Lijiang, Luoyang, Lushan, Nanjing, Shanghai, Suzhou, Wuxi, XiAn, Xishuangbanna, Yangzhou, Zhouzhuang, Zhuhai. I would say that Beijing, Xian, Hangzhou, Suzhou, and Hong Kong are must sees.

Shanghai, Beijing, Xian, and Hong Kong are all great places to visit IF YOU ARE FILFTY RICH.

Go off the beaten track to places like Suzhou, Harbin, Nanjing.

Travel into the countryside, away from the metropolises far away from all the other affluent Laowai and the scam merchants who follow them trying to make a quick buck from the foreign devil.
