If your question is, can you find American-style Chinese food in China, the answer is no.

I lived in China and in Taiwan, and one of my favorite dishes is the inauthentic crab rangoon. You cannot find it for love or money there. People have never even heard of it.

The American-style restaurants in China are frequently as inauthentic as the Chinese restaurants in America. For example, I've been to tons of places that claimed to have authentic American-style pizza and they still put corn and mayo and other non-American toppings on it.

China has lots and lots of authentic Chinese restaurants serving authentic Chinese food that is 100% better than anything you can find in the United States. I have a hard time eating Chinese food in the US due to it being so different from the real thing.

Large cities like Beijing and Shanghai will have specialized American (and other types) restaurants such as "Grandma's Kitchen" and "The Hungry Horse" in Beijing. Total American dining.

Fast food restaurants abound in most cities with KFC being the most successful. While McDonalds has a strong presence in east, it hasn't yet penetrated the northwest. Nary a one to be found in Gansu, Ningxia, Qinghai or Xinjiang. There are only a few Burger Kings in the entire country. It hasn't penetrated the market yet.

Our city has a few attempts at "western" restaurants (not specifically American), primarily in the pizza arena, but they aren't very good.

Yes and no. You will not find any restaurant in China that serves all the same food as in America, namely there is no such thing as General Tso Chicken, orange chicken, teriyaki chicken that are so popular in the US. No restaurant in China gives out fortune cookies, this is purely an American culture. Every restaurant in China serves fried rice, noodle, and most of the stir fried food found in the US, but those in China taste much better. The variety of Chinese cuisine found inside China is much more you can ever find in the US.

There are many American fast food restaurants in China namely McDonald's, KFC, Starbucks..... In big cities such as Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong, there are American restaurants catered to the taste of American food connoisseur.

I think most chinese restaurants in other countries sell western style chinese food, maybe because the western people are used to that style of food. Try china town in your local cities, you could get the real taste of china there. In China the best place to eat real chinese food are from the street vendors and alley way restaurants, just be careful though you need an iron stomach in most cases.

I think some Hotels have western style restaurants to cater for the business man and tourists.

There are no restaurants serving the pseudo-Chinese food found in American "Chinese" restaurants. Why would there be when real Chinese food is 100 times better.

There are many foreign restaurants, including American, in China, especially in large cities. McDonalds and KFC are everywhere, not that I would classify them as restaurants.

They don't necessarily call it a "buffet" restaurant. Some restaurants have buffet, some don't. You'll find that out once you enter inside or if they menus / posters / signs by the door that says they are buffet or have buffet. Most restaurants in China don't have to specify if they serve primarily Chinese food. However for those some who serve international cuisines, they will add a few words on their restaurant name to specify what cuisine or type of restaurant they are. An example would be like 康师傅西餐厅 "西餐" - means "western cuisine".

Nowadays you will find ANYTHING in China. Especially in the big cities(Shanghai, beijing, wuhan, shenzhen) you should be able to find a large variety of restaurants from western to eastern cousin.

Of course in villages, you will rather find chinese restaurants that serve chinese food, chinese style and not the american way.

At least there is a Burger King and Mc Donald's in almost every city, even thou I dislike that. Asia, especially southeast asia is getting very western.

You have got to pulling our legs !!!

Either that, or your using your parents computer without permission.

If I'm wrong on both accounts, here is your answer.

Sorry, no Chinese Restaurants in China.

Only McDonald's and KFC.

On the other hand, if your serious !

Chinese Restaurants in China have slightly different food on the menu than what they would have in the US. That's because its been Westernized to suit your taste buds.

Yes of course. Well I'm not really sure about China having American restaurants but it could be possible.

Our Chinese restaurants and theirs serve the same 'basic' foods. they have alot more tasty dishes there though. And they do have some of your chain restaurants like McDonald's. I know in Thailand i saw DQ, Pizza Hut, and oh i forget the last one. but yes they have some of our fast food restaurants
