Why foreigners are having hopelessly incorrect and misguided ideas about our country, Zhongguo, China?

Question

They accuse us of human rights violations and organ harvesting.
They accuse us of promoting rogue regimes like North Korea and Sudan
They accuse us of nuclear proliferation.

Why do they do this?

Well Foreigners often don't get to know what another country is like. Americans thing x happens in China. Chinese thing x happens in USA.



Its also common in China to think that if a person is white their an American. Accusations and such about other countries are common and happen all over the world.

Western bias towards the Chinese are formed years, even centuries ago through western propoganda. It formed during the Renaissance, when western scholars tried to encourage European people that China was not the only dreamland in the world, that they could build Europe just as good or even better. And they did, and they're proud and then they started to look down on Chinese.



To change such an idea hundreds of years old, that bias, it'll take years of hard work and friendship.



The vast majority of western people who did visit China hold a much better opinion toward the country, but they're few compared to the whole western population. While private medias survive on popularity, they can't affored to tell people that they're wrong. As long as most of the western people don't have a correct and updated idea about how China is, the medias will continue to influence the people the other way, comfortablely telling them they're simply right, China sucks and all those with a different opinion are brain-washed.

I'm not even sure anyone knows what human rights violations are. Can anyone agree on what human rights are?



As for organ harvesting, it happened, but it's supposedly stopped now.



They accuse you of supporting rogue countries because China has done so in the past. Even though it is breaking old ties with N.Korea it still has a stigma.



China does proliferate nuclear weapons. All countries that have them do by the act of having them.



EDIT: Bt - Shut up tard. The jobs are coming to China because America's work force is over valued, it's not CNY being undervalued. If you have a problem with jobs moving to China I suggest you become a Communist because that's how Capitalism works. You're probably the same type of American flag waving moron that loves Capitalism so much you hate the idea of socialised medicine because it's "Communist" but don't even really know what Capitalism / Communism is, am I right?



EDIT: WHYDOYOU: Again, people, you shouldn't talk about what you don't understand. That is the point of this question. Every country has imminent domain. It happens more in China because it's building like crazy. There are cases of fraud, but people are generally paid market value for their homes if evicted for the purposes of utilities buildings / highways etc.



PS, When your country has a billion people coming out of poverty and your country handles it better, then open you mouth.

Everything is not peace and harmony. Westerners still no nothing about China and have a negative view of it. China does nothing to improve it's image in the world. They think they do, but in reality they do nothing. If China wants to improve it's image it should do the following: 1. Produce big budget movies about modern China, not 1500's kungfu fights again and again and again and again... 2. Publicly turn against N.Korea, Zimbabwe, Sudan etc... 3. Stop pointing missiles at Taiwan and stop blocking the UN from granting Taiwan representation. 4. Tibet is probably a hopeless issue. The westerners that complain about Tibet know nothing about history or China or Tibetans and so educating them is out of the question as they clearly do not care to learn. -so that's a wash. 5. Stop hating the Japanese and spreading hate against them. Move on, WWII is long over. PS, I don't care, Japanese don't care and western countries don't care about Japanese text books. Let it go. They apologized. Continuing the hate only makes you look bad and hurts the economy unnecessarily. 6. Send troops to Iraq and Afghanistan. That would make China US relations blossom quite quickly. The US dominates the world's media and making friends with them will get you good press in the world. 7. Make an effort to clean up the cities. They are very drab and polluted. I realise it's not easy, but there are some simple things like carbon emissions testing that can make a huge dent in streetside pollution. 8. Stop being so insanely nationalist and defensive about everything. It seems Chinese are overly sensitive to outside opinion and overreact easily. Sending soldiers to guard Olympic torch runners abroad from hippie protesters was possibly the dumbest move possible for China's image. 9. Hire image consultants and put them on the government payroll. 10. Stop ignoring problems rather than dealing with them. Over the years I've heard "China does not have AIDS", "If China has AIDS it's because Americans gave it to us", "AIDS in China comes from transfusions as Chinese do not sleep around", "Foreigners are like porn stars, Chinese are traditional", "SARS has been handled", "Taiwan is a part of China", "Chinese people do not use drugs", "It's not smog, it's fog", "China is a harmonious society" etc...

maybe bcos thats all they hear or saw on tv or internet. for someone with no knowledge of the country to come across these videos makes them think thats what the country is like, even thou it may not be like that anymore. if u look up ur country on youtube u will most probably find bad videos. thats why people get the thought that this is what the country is like. alot of people also get the wrong idea of australia, but this is what they see from movies and old videos.

you chinese are robbing pple of their jobs, usa is suffering because of china stealing jobs by devaluing yuan.China don't have any human rights.they are just trying to hurt world economy by every evil mean.If china is really nice then let yuan increase value,stop cheap labor,stop selling people kidneys and organs,stop taking out prisoners kidneys to sell them,stop abortions,stop selling babies.
